The Scottish side kicked off their Champions Cup campaign in perfect fashion with a valuable four-try win on the road against Sale.

Taking advantage of the wind at their backs, the hosts started strongly and raced to a 14-0 advantage within 20 minutes. Scores from the Sale skipper and teenage debutant Ollie Davies gave them early control.

But, Glasgow responded well with a pair of scores prior to the interval. Forward Hiddleston and flanker Darge both crossed to narrow the gap.

Further after the break scores from Kyle Steyn and Stafford McDowall extended the Warriors' lead to 26-14. A late reply for the hosts set up a tense finish, but Glasgow stood strong to secure a major opening win.

Warriors Seize Initiative Following Interval

Play began with a bang as skipper Ernst van Rhyn scored from close range after only two minutes. An early injury to midfielder Rekeiti Ma'asi-White brought 19-year-old Ollie Davies into the action for his cup debut.

Davies made an immediate contribution. Switching to fly-half, he took a good angle to take an offload and score, extending the home side's lead.

Against difficult conditions, Glasgow turned to their set-piece to fight back into the contest. A strong line-out drive was finished by front-rower Gregor Hiddleston. Just before the half, Darge barged over, with Adam Hastings' conversion making it a narrow deficit at half-time.

The Scottish club took the advantage for the first time early in the second half. A poor kick was collected by number eight Jack Dempsey, who fed captain Kyle Steyn to break a challenge and race away to the try-line.

Now in the driving seat, Glasgow clinched the bonus point when Stafford McDowall powered past a defender to celebrate his 100th appearance for the team. That score capped a sequence of twenty-six consecutive points.

The hosts found a late hope when Louw used neat footwork to cross. The kick made it a five-point game with time left.

A final opportunity arose for Sale from a throw in the corner, but they failed to secure the ball, confirming Glasgow's victory.
