Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United After Initiating Abusive Chants Targeting Manager Chris Wilder

The striker has joined the Championship side only seven months following instigating derogatory chants directed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club after departing from Leeds United, has agreed to a agreement with the Championship strugglers until January. Bamford's seven-year spell at Elland Road was ended amicably in August.

One of the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading insulting chants regarding Chris Wilder amid Leeds' promotion celebrations in April. Currently, the former England player will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to pull his beloved club away from the bottom places.

Past Conflict Between Bamford & the Manager

Both men had a past prior to Leeds won promotion back to the top flight last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the promotion decider to Sunderland. The manager described Bamford as a "muppet" back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured direct promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the playoffs.

Making Amends and Moving Forward

All seems to have been put behind them with Sheffield United, the Championship’s least productive attack, in desperate need of a boost up front while Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his playing days.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned Wilder the next day.

Wilder said back then: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I’ve no issue whatsoever with that. I’m not sure regarding the words used from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We spent a short while and similarly I spoke to Daniel too and had a half-hour chat together and he is a super guy, a class act. Back in my playing days we used to dish it out and accept it and that’s part and parcel of football across all levels, including Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Patrick.”
