Almost 55,000 homes have reportedly been affected by the rains, with their belongings and temporary homes ruined.

Intense storms over the recent period have intensified the extremely difficult living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in the territory, according to humanitarian groups.

"Awful" Conditions Creates Serious Risks

A official described the previous night's conditions as "horrendous", with rain so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the terrain.

"The recent weather was really terrible for the families. The storms were so powerful... And the gales were so forceful," noted the official.

There is grave worry that minors residing in makeshift shelters in damp clothing will contract hypothermia and various illnesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Destruction

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has passed away from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures due to the severe weather.

Other reports put a greater death toll. Officials said that multiple homes had collapsed completely and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families harmed by the weather.
  • More than 40 designated shelters inundated.
  • Countless residents required to relocate again.

Assistance Operations Considered Inadequate

Agencies have escalated deliveries of shelter, blankets and garments after the truce began, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Officials are working relentlessly to provide that assistance and to hand it out, but the size of the needs is so enormous that we still have thousands of individuals and minors who are truly enduring hardship each evening," cautioned one official.

Long-Term Concerns and Agreement Provisions

The subsequent part of the agreement encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the pullback of military forces, and other terms.

Aid bodies have highlighted the necessity for "increased and sustained aid to address pressing and ongoing needs."

The conflict was triggered by an assault in October 2023. Subsequent campaigns have resulted in a substantial number of fatalities in the area, as per health ministry figures.
