Zelenskyy commented, "We can already see that Moscow is rushing to restart dialogue as soon as it learns of cruise missiles." This statement addressed earlier musings about providing advanced weapons to the Ukrainian military.

Political Developments and International Reactions

An ex- US state department official, a foreign policy expert, commented, "Putin is attempting to disrupt the progress toward greater pressure on the Kremlin." He added, "The outcome will become clear on Friday, but the chances of moving toward a truce by pushing Moscow to get serious seem to have decreased."

The situation came after Trump had recently been hardening his language toward Russia until Thursday's call with the Russian president, which the Kremlin characterized as "highly open and trustful."

European Fuel Restrictions and Economic Impact

EU authorities have set a mandate for fuel suppliers into the EU to prove their products are not sourced from Russian oil, as stated in a document published on recently. This measure is included in the EU's forthcoming prohibition on imports of fuels made from Russian crude, which forms part of its latest restrictive measures against Russia over its military actions in the region.

Market experts observed that trading patterns appeared to be factoring in the potential reduction of India's purchases of Russian crude. Several Indian refiners are getting ready to cut purchases from Russia, with expectations of a phased reduction, according to sources familiar with the matter.

"This is a favorable turn for the crude oil price as it would remove a big customer of Russian oil," commented a market analyst, noting that crude values were steady on the trading day.

Security Situation and Infrastructure Strikes

A large-scale Russian unmanned aircraft and missile assault hit gas facilities in Ukraine's eastern regions on Thursday, causing outages in multiple regions. Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched numerous of unmanned vehicles and many of projectiles, along with glide bombs.

"This autumn, the Russian forces use daily opportunities to attack at our energy infrastructure," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy, noting that strikes impacted the regions of northern Ukraine, Kharkiv, Poltava, northeastern Ukraine and western Ukraine.

The proposed system, dubbed the "EU defensive program," is expected to begin working initially by the end of 2026 and be completely operational by the following year. EU authorities hopes to secure the backing of EU leaders at a summit in the coming days.
